Simone’s Journey to Jetlag Remedy

With two young kids of her own and a background in five-star hotel management, Simone understood the needs of busy travelers returning home exhausted from international flights. All too often, she and her family would walk into a disorganized home that added more stress.

Leveraging her experience preparing hotel rooms to a high standard, Simone aimed to provide that same five-star experience through her cleaning services. This included immaculately cleaned bathrooms and kitchens down to the finest details like spotless skirting boards. She also wanted to reduce clients' mental load through thorough organization of spaces like linen cupboards and pantries. Her upbringing seeing how busy her own mother was reinforced the importance of lifting that mental load for clients.


Building a Positive Culture

At Jet Lag Remedy, Simone emphasizes building a culture focused on passion, communication and going above and beyond. She looks for candidates who love cleaning and serving others when hiring. One staff member demonstrated this during an initial training day by noticing extra tasks like an oven needing cleaning, without being asked. Clear expectations are also set around boundaries like not responding to clients outside work hours. This allows employees to maintain a work-life balance while still meeting high standards. Word-of-mouth from satisfied clients led to steady growth at Jet Lag Remedy.


Navigating the Challenges of Rapid Scaling

Managing rapid growth presented new hurdles. As the team expanded, some employees could not maintain expectations long-term. Though difficult, Simone learned to have transparent conversations to replace underperformers with top talent. She implemented organized systems like online training to onboard new hires efficiently. Outsourcing operations to experts allowed her to focus on the big picture through strategic planning. Regular breaks recharge Simone to lead ambitious expansion plans while avoiding burnout.


Preparing for the Next Phase of Growth

With over 50 staff now, Simone felt ready for a long-awaited 5-week vacation. She organized payroll coverage and documented ideas to explore later. Simone's goal is to double Jet Lag Remedy across more Australian cities in the coming years. Her story inspires others to pursue their passions, even in uncertain times, by focusing on strengths and maintaining work-life balance. Continuous learning from challenges will fuel Simone's next phase of growth.
